EER “ROCKstars” Visit Greathouse Elementary

10:28 29 April in Community

The Endeavor Energy Geology Team members were the “ROCKstars” of Greathouse Elementary. Split into small groups, the team visited with nearly 100 second graders.

The team’s presentation covered general geology terms, highlighted the three types of rocks (igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic), and discussed where geology is seen in everyday items.

As part of the presentation’s interactivity, the team showed off a glass of Endeavor oil. To cap off the event, the geology team gave each student a bag of rocks and gemstones. Local business Scully Stone generously donated most of the rocks and was excited to play a part in supporting local students.

“As a dad of a Greathouse student, it was very special to share our careers with groups of students who are excited about learning – and excited about rocks!” said Senior Geologist Ben Breyman. “We were happy to share our knowledge with these students, as well as support our community’s education.”

Greathouse Elementary teacher Alex Paredes remarked, “We’re so appreciative to Endeavor’s Geology Team for sharing their time, insight, and love of geology with our students! Their visit reiterated EER’s commitment to supporting local education. Greathouse was excited to be a part of this special – and educational – afternoon.”
