Endeavor to Make Wishes Come True

In collaboration with Make-A-Wish, EER hosted a “wish enhancement” for five-year-old Midland Wish Kid Jaasiel! Diagnosed with leukemia at just 14 months old, Jaasiel has spent the overwhelming majority of his life in the hospital undergoing various procedures and treatments.

Good news—Jaasiel’s story is one of victory. He recently completed his last round of chemo and is cancer-free!

During his treatment, Jaasiel was referred to Make-A-Wish and shared his dream of visiting the beach to build sandcastles and see dolphins with his family. His mother Lupe said, “He wakes up every day and asks, ‘Is it time to go to the beach yet?!’” The Endeavor team built on Jaasiel’s anticipation with a magical “wish sendoff” party!

The week before Jaasiel’s wish trip, hundreds of EER team members hosted a scavenger hunt through the company’s downtown offices and Midland Centennial Park. When Jaasiel arrived, he was greeted with ocean-themed balloons and received a beach wagon to collect his many gifts discovered throughout the scavenger hunt!

His scavenger hunt included stops with Human Resources, Building Services, Engineering, Geology, Land, Regulatory, Drilling, Completions, Water, Accounting, Information Technology, and Legal teams. His final clue led him to the park to enjoy a pizza party, splash pad, outdoor games, a DJ, and more gifts. The Production team organized a celebratory escort to the park, complete with cheering, bubbles, and streamers. Off-duty MPD Officer Cody Easley helped to keep us all safe!

At the park, EER and Jaasiel’s family took a moment to honor Jaasiel’s journey. His mother Lupe shared their experience with Jaasiel’s diagnosis and his triumph over it.

Jaasiel received his “wish backpack” with important trip items, including his Make-A-Wish t-shirts and trip itinerary. Endeavor presented a donation to Make-A-Wish so more wishes like Jaasiel’s could come true.

“We’re grateful for the Endeavor staff and their gracious support of our wish kids! We sincerely thank this outstanding team for working with us to make wishes come true for children with critical illnesses.” – Make-A-Wish North Texas

For children with critical conditions, a wish can be the spark to help them believe anything is possible and to give them the strength to fight harder against their illnesses. Help celebrate more children like Jaasiel! Learn about donating or volunteering on the Make-A-Wish website.
